Me thinking out loud. Disclaimer: this stuff could be really boring.

Sometimes, lately, I find it easy to be immediately skeptical of something I hear in church. I want to reject it, saying “where’d that come from?” or “that’s not exactly biblical” or any other number criticisms. I forget though, that that’s how many people felt when Jesus came around. That’s not to say I think I should just get over it, shut up and blindly follow from now on…or that I know all there is to know about the bible (I’m far from it actually). I think wariness can be a good thing and by no means does God want us to be blind in our faith. But I think when it gets to the point that we’re worried and discouraged over some trivial little disagreement on a spiritual topic, it only opens the door for the enemy to come in and pull us apart.
We’re (read: I’m) missing the point.
I think that compared to one thing, God is not too concerned about our position on those things we get so caught up in debate over. Looking throughout the stories in the bible and past experiences, it becomes obvious that one thing is absolute. That one thing is the heart. Where is my heart? Is it focused on serving me or any other countless things the enemy would have or is it focused on serving others in love and growth in God? If it’s the former, I have bigger problems than whether drinking alcohol is ok or not. If it’s the latter, I can wrestle with the issue (and possibly should), but I needn’t let it be a hindrance from what’s really important.
Gee…I’m on a roll here huh? Well, I suppose I could start by reiterating that it really is interesting where life takes you when you just relax and let go and everything…as I mentioned in the last post. It’s really beginning to seem that sometimes, when I’m simply doing my part (putting forth effort and throwing myself out there…all along loving God of course), things just start to fall into place naturally…like a puzzle coming together or getting caught up in the flow of a river…without being completely sure how or why the stuff is happening. I mean I have a pretty good idea but there’s just that underlying feeling that I’m not alone in this…which is really cool.
Anyway, all that probably makes one wonder what the heck this is all about. Well, let’s just say that as of yesterday afternoon, Sarah (see last post) and I are no longer just good friends lol. After almost five months of knowing her and maybe a month and a half of really getting to know her, the thing that seemed like it’d never happen (especially anytime soon) happened. Crazy awesome stuff! Who knows what will happen next…

Maybe because it wasn’t meant to be. But that’s okay…it was a blessing and I certainly learned a lot. Probably why it happened in the first place…
I’m sure the word ‘ironic’ doesn’t quite do it when it is mentioned that the very day after I made a post about that wonderful new car (and only a week and a half after buying it) it gets totaled. Especially when, after having the Accord for over two years, I didn’t get into even one remotely major accident. I guess it could have been worse because people could have been injured and it could have been my fault but this wasn’t the case as I distinctly remember stopping in time to not hit the vehicle in front of me in that nasty stop ‘n go traffic on I-10 during rush hour. No, it was when the truck behind me was not able to replicate my actions that he made contact with my car, thus pushing me into the SUV in front of me. Needless to say there’s significant damage to the front and rear body of the car (quite possibly the frame as well), the driver’s side door doesn’t open/close quite right and the sunroof won’t close all the way. I’m pretty sure it’ll be totaled. Thankfully, it’s just a car.
I find it interesting how somebody seems to get a tour of this place at least once a week. “And this is our production area,” somebody will say when the “tour group” comes back into my area. Occasionally, if I’m lucky, I’ll be introduced to the esteemed guests. Other times, they’ll skip the production area altogether. (In case you were wondering, the place in question is my work.) I’m sure it has something to do with the fact that it is literally a brand new facility. Like, they had barely finished moving in the day I started and, as far as I can tell, things still aren’t completely squared away. But overall, the facility is very nice and infinitely better than that of my last job. In fact, there’s actually very little I can complain about working here. Isn’t it cool how things work out sometimes? Things that you know probably wouldn’t have worked out if it had been completely in your hands?
Anyway, remember back in the day when I first started this thing? Back when I was working at “good” ol’ Fry’s? Back when I did product of the day (or post)? Unfortunately, those posts that origninate from the wee years of my blogging career were lost in a fit of some exotic emotion that temporarily put this blog out of service BUT I have recently found something that is almost as good…maybe even better. I actually check this site almost every morning when I get to work (mainly for the entertainment value) though I haven’t actually bought anything off of it yet. I have, however, been very tempted a few times. But I’ll spare you the suspense. Allow me to introduce woot!…the one and only site (that I know of) that’s dedicated to a “product of the day” system. And what’s best is their stuff is almost always priced lower than the lowest price you’d find anywhere else online…sometimes a lot lower.
I have a disposable camera full of pictures that I need to get developed (what I really need — would like is a digital camera). I was able to get quite a few good shots of some stuff up on Mt. Graham (about 3-4 hours drive northeast of Tucson) during a camping trip the weekend after San Diego. Hopefully I’ll be able to post them on here and/or make some good backgrounds out of them.
